Disqualified from the Economic Stimulus Package

A Letter to Senator Boxer from a past associate of mine who retired 2004 from the PD. What better application than to Social Media to the masses. My BEST - Connor MacIVOR



Dear Senator Boxer,



After thirty years of service I am a retired Sergeant of Police from the City of Los Angeles (ret 2004). My pension and the pensions of the other thirteen thousand retired members of the Police and Firefighters of Los Angeles disqualified us from receiving an economic Stimulus payment from the IRS for the 2007 tax year. Because we had pensions from the City of Los Angeles, our pensions were not included as qualified for the payment. They were excluded from the list of qualifying income sources used by the IRS in the language of the legislation.



I am not objecting for my self alone but for all of the members of the class of pensioners that make up the bulk of the American work force. We were taxed during our working years and we are still taxed during our retirement years and the bulk of all revenues used by the United states government is provided by this class of workers. Yet when the economic Stimulus package was defined, we were excluded even though is was largely our tax funds that were given to other laborers and pensioners who had qualifying income from other types of pensions. It is frightening to know that the pensions of retired military personnel, any local, state or federal civil service personnel and who knows the countless other pension types were disqualified.



Here is another shocker: consider all of the employees of any public school district in California. Now take all of the unqualified pensions from pensioners in all of the other 49 states and answer this. Just who "Stimulated" the economy? Who got "Stimulated."



Do not think for a minute that any member of the disqualified class in the work force is pleased by this situation. Who approved the Stimulus package as it was written? That would be the House of Representatives and the Senate. Can this be fixed for the 2008 tax season? In part, it is your responsibility to set up a squawk in congress and your co-conspirators, er...I mean colleagues must fix this. ...and stop discriminating against this large (majority) class of the workforce.

My Shop Angel and Advertising to the Masses

If you are out and about and handing out business cards, you are doing more than others that are working in an industry that is very difficult to start in.



Set aside 6 months if you are going to give Real Estate a go - Also prepare for a lot of rejection and temporary failure. Never allow an ego to form also, that will cripple you quickly and keep you from being able to approach strangers. Brand yourself and find your vendors that are willing to go where you want to go with your business.



I have read it like this, imagine that you have a bus that you are going to be driving to a specific goal. Before you even start going where you have imagined, you have check several things related to the bus. Making sure it has fuel in it, in good condition and can take you all the way to your goal. The folks you have on the bus need to be "your type of people".



Not their types - not in it for them - they have to understand your position and be willing to make whatever sacrifices to help you take the bus where you want it to go.



In the RE/MAX of Santa Clarita, http://connormacivor.remax.com/ and Paris911 http://paris911.com/ Team Bus. We have both Paris and I who both take turns driving to our one common goal.



We have a handful of lenders that know where we are going and what they are needing to do on a consistent basis in order to be allowed to remain on the bus.



We have the escrow company we work with most often and our escrow officer who is willing at a moments notice to keep our clients informed and get to our escrows in short order.



We also have Inspection services - a handful of home inspectors and pest inspectors which also understand our goal and what we are needing them to consistently be. On our clients side and making sure they are doing everything where our clients are never going to suffer for a mistake being made by any one of those particular vendors.



Re/MAX of Santa Clarita Support Staff - Although they are only on the bus from time to time - we make sure if we are going to be dealing with them, we keep them focused on how we operate and the Relational Approach we have with our clients. Never is it ever for the company - it is always for our clients and that is what we demand and what our protection affords you.

There are so many things that make a Real Estate agent or team better than their competition - Then there are things and steps that remove the competition aspect completely - that is where I see The Paris911 Team. It is just that we have seen others consultation and representation products and we are not even on the same field.



We have an excellent office staff including our office coordinator - Jamie and our buyers agents, who by the way only open doors, do not handle contracts or negotiation. That is why you came to Paris and I in the first place, our reputation, so we want you to continue to hold it is high regard so our buyers agents are not the norm - you are not dealing with them except for the looking and viewing properties. After you have found something you want to buy, they are out of the picture and it comes back to Paris and I for the rest of Escrow and beyond.
